Wine list news
WineWith summer comes a new wine list with the addition of some fantastic new wines by the glass and bottle.

A new summery Pinot Noir from St Pourcain in France, a delicious new Fiano from Italy at a great price and an extremely elegant Pinot Bianco from Alto Adige made by biodynamic master Alois Lageder are certainly worth trying. As too are a nutty Rousanne from d’Arenberg and an excellent “Super-Tuscan” Sangiovese Merlot blend which add great interest to our wide selection of wines available by glass and carafe.

New Argentinian acquaintances

Particular features of the list are the ranges of Catena and Howard Park wines. Nicholas Catena has been at the forefront of the Argentine wine industry since its inception so we are pleased not only to showcase his range of wine but also to have received small allocations of his highly sought-after single vineyard Malbecs from the Nicasia and Adrianna vineyards.

Vines in Argentina are planted higher than anywhere else in the world which allows for great health in the vineyard and elegance to perfectly compliment the powerful fruit character of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon which grow so well there.

From Down Under

Western Australia, where Howard Park’s wines are made is a world apart from the more commonly known, fiercely hot areas of South Australia and Victoria. As such it is ideally suited to growing Bordeaux varietals of Cabernet and Merlot, as well as whites such as Chardonnay, Riesling and Sauvignon and some cool climate Pinot from the Great Southern south west tip of Australia.

We are offering the “Leston” Vineyard Cabernet 2006 by the glass which won top spot in Decanter’s Western Australia tasting this year but their top wine is their flagship Margaret River Cabernet Merlot. We have sourced direct from the estate back vintages of these truly ageworthy wines in both bottles and Magnum, offering a rare chance to taste well stored top-end New World wine from the 1990s.

The same winemaker Jeff Burch has also released a new Pinot made jointly with Pascal Marchand, ex of Domaine de la Vougerie, which you will find in our Pinot Noir section from now on as well.
