With the new season comes our new wine list. Beverage manager Eddie Friend has paid particular attention in our winter wine list to full and rich reds from France and Italy.
Burgundy is home to the finest and
possibly the most complexed French wines.
From Côte de Nuits our selection now includes a Vosne Romanee from Jean Grivot and
a Gevrey Chambertin
from Nicolas Potel.
Also from Côte de Beaune comes a lovely Chassagne Montrachet “En Remilly”. All of these wines are served only in magnum size; a smaller bottle just wouldn’t be enough.
From Bordeaux, home to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, we are now serving Sarget de Gruaud
Larose '95 and Château Pavie Decesse '98, both rich and earthy prestigious red wines from St Julien and St Émilion.
Chianti's newcomer estate Castello Banfi is a rarity, not just because of its vast size, but because it was started from scratch less than 20 years ago. Despite its young age, it has already achieved award winning reputation. We chose their trademark full and velvety Brunello di Montalcino.
Last but not least; our new
whites
Refreshing new white wines Costiere de Nimes,
a blend of Grenache Blanc and Roussanne from
Château de Nages in France, and Catena Chardonnay from
Nicolas Catena in Argentina are definitely worth trying. As too is Primrose Hill Bacchus from Kent which has been dubbed as England's answer to Sauvignon Blanc.
We also serve the '2005 vintage of Château
Marjosse. The château is owned by Pierre
Lurton who is the main man at St Emilion
first growth Château Cheval Blanc. Pierre
has invested a king's ransom in Château
Marjosse to improve both vineyards and
cellars. The 2005 vintage is their very best
to date; it has a fantastic plummy aroma and
is beautifully balanced with floral notes
and rich cherry and plum flavours. A
brilliant partner to red meat and game.
