Johnnie Walker Gold: strong and very serious indeed
WhiskyThe success story of Johnnie Walker whisky from a “behind the desk” item in a small Scottish grocery store to a globally successful multimillion brand is surely not lacking in ambition, intelligence and determination.

Originally known as Walker's Killme Whisky, the Johnnie Walker brand is a legacy left by John ‘Johnnie’ Walker. The young John Walker had the threat of bankruptcy hanging over his head after his father’s death in 1819. He invested the little money he had into opening his own grocery store in Ayrshire, Scotland. Soon he started blending different malts together as a ’back room art’ to provide the best possible whisky to his customers. The brand became popular, but after Walker's death in 1857 it was his son Alexander Walker and grandson Alexander Walker II who were largely responsible for establishing the scotch as a popular brand outside Scotland.

At the turn of the century, Johnnie Walker Red Label had become the first truly global brand, sold in over 120 countries around the world. It also gained a devoted following at home in Britain. King George V liked Johnnie Walker whisky so much that he granted a Royal Warrant to the company in 1933, and Johnnie Walker has remained an official purveyor of whisky to the Royal Household to the present day.

Johnny Walker remains the world’s most sold whisky and the brand’s mantra “Keep walking” has even been adopted by many pro democracy protestors and parliamentary speech mentors.
Gold label
Johnnie Walker continues to be blended in its roots in Kilmarnock, with a large plant just north of the town's railway station. The historic bonded warehouses and company offices can still be seen in Strand Street and John Finnie Street.

Frozen Gold & Dark served  Mercer style

Johnnie Walker Gold label was inspired by the notes originally kept by Sir Alexander Walker and is crafted from only a small number of Scotland’s most renowned distilleries each matured for a minimum 18 years. Frozen for 48 hours, the whisky warms in the mouth and releases its light fruity flavours and true honey sweetness. We serve it with our hand made dark chocolate fudge to assist the experience.
